STAY
Nickerson State Park
Brewster, Massachusetts (Cape Cod)
Stayed September-October 2013
My camping experience At Nickerson State Park was completely idyllic. This was also a great time of year to visit for peace and quiet without need of reservations because the campground was only about 1/3 occupied but the weather was still very pleasant. There is a wonderfully stocked store to pick up firewood, ice, and a fine selection of edibles - even all of the ingredients to make smores!
Highlights:
-
Walking trails around the ponds
-
Boating
-
Swimming
-
Inexpensive
AirBNB
Brooklyn, NY
Stayed September 2013
Staying in New York City is super expensive, and finding a reasonable place that is dog friendly and that has decent parking seemed almost impossible to find for less than $400 a night. Through AirBnB I "rented" a great place in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn for a few nights that had everything I needed for less than $200 a night!
Highlights:
-
Flexible check-in/check-out with certain hosts (like mine)
-
Convenience of kitchen (my host left me some Brooklyn Lagers)
